Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of blur-face.com and the Blur Face browser-based tools (collectively, the "Service"). By accessing or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. The Service

Blur Face provides tools for applying blur, pixelation, solid covers, and related edits to images or videos. Core media processing is designed to occur locally in your browser. Features, supported formats, availability, and output may change over time.

2. Eligibility and Authority

You may use the Service only if you can legally agree to these Terms. If you use the Service for an organization, you represent that you have authority to bind that organization. Children should use the Service only with the involvement and permission of a parent, guardian, school, or other responsible adult as applicable.

3. Your Files, Rights, and Responsibilities

You retain any rights you hold in files you process and in your exported results. You are solely responsible for the files you select, the edits you apply, the output you download, and how you store, publish, or distribute it.

You represent and warrant that:

• you have the rights, permissions, consent, or other lawful authority needed to process and use the files;
• your use will not violate privacy, publicity, copyright, safeguarding, confidentiality, or other applicable rights or laws;
• you will inspect the complete exported file before relying on or sharing it; and
• you will maintain appropriate copies, security controls, and records for your own purposes.

4. Important Redaction Disclaimer

Automatic detection is a convenience, not a guarantee. It may miss faces, text, license plates, reflections, profile views, small or obstructed subjects, individual video frames, or other sensitive information. A mask may also be too small, misplaced, or insufficiently strong for your intended use.

You must manually review every relevant area and the final exported file. Blur Face does not certify that an output is anonymous, irreversible, legally compliant, or suitable for a particular security, journalistic, medical, educational, employment, regulatory, or evidentiary purpose. When a disclosure could cause serious harm, consider cropping, fully removing the content, using another image, restricting distribution, or obtaining qualified advice.

5. Prohibited Uses

You may not use the Service to:

• violate applicable law or another person's rights;
• facilitate harassment, stalking, exploitation, fraud, abuse, or non-consensual intimate imagery;
• process or distribute unlawful content;
• misrepresent an edited image as authentic evidence or use an output deceptively;
• interfere with, overload, probe, or compromise the Service or its security;
• introduce malware or attempt unauthorized access;
• scrape or automate access in a manner that materially burdens the Service; or
• remove proprietary notices or copy, resell, or exploit the Service itself except as permitted by law.

6. Intellectual Property

The Service, website design, software, branding, and original site content are owned by Blur Face or its licensors and are protected by applicable intellectual property laws. These Terms give you a limited, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use the Service as provided. They do not transfer ownership of the Service.

7. Third-Party Services and Advertising

The site may use or link to third-party services, libraries, analytics providers, advertising providers, and external websites. Those services are governed by their own terms and policies. We are not responsible for third-party content, availability, security, or practices.

8. Availability and Changes

We may modify, suspend, limit, or discontinue any part of the Service at any time. We do not guarantee uninterrupted availability, compatibility with every browser or device, preservation of editor state, or continued support for any file format or feature.

9. Disclaimer of Warranties

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE," WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. WE DISCLAIM IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, ACCURACY, SECURITY, AND RELIABILITY. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT DETECTION OR REDACTION WILL BE COMPLETE, THAT OUTPUT CANNOT BE RE-IDENTIFIED, OR THAT THE SERVICE WILL MEET YOUR LEGAL OR PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS.

10. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, BLUR FACE AND ITS OPERATORS, CONTRIBUTORS, AND SERVICE PROVIDERS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR LOSS OF DATA, PRIVACY, PROFITS, REVENUE, GOODWILL, OR BUSINESS OPPORTUNITY, ARISING FROM OR RELATED TO THE SERVICE OR YOUR FILES, OUTPUTS, PUBLICATION, OR RELIANCE ON AUTOMATIC DETECTION.

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ALL CLAIMS RELATING TO THE SERVICE WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF USD $100 OR THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US TO USE THE SERVICE DURING THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE EVENT GIVING RISE TO THE CLAIM. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain exclusions or limitations, so parts of this section may not apply to you.

11. Indemnity

To the extent permitted by law, you agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Blur Face and its operators from claims, losses, liabilities, and reasonable costs arising from your files, outputs, publication, violation of these Terms, or infringement of another person's rights.

12. Termination

We may restrict or terminate access to the Service if we reasonably believe your use violates these Terms, creates risk, or harms the Service or others. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination will survive.

13. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Courts located in California will have jurisdiction over disputes, except where applicable consumer law requires another forum or provides non-waivable rights.

14. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms as the Service or legal requirements change. The current version and effective date will be posted here. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised Terms to the extent permitted by law.
